Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at Oberwart Hospital

Expanding Healthcare Services in Burgenland

Since April 2025, a new department for minimally invasive neurosurgery has been established at Oberwart Hospital under the leadership of Prim. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Günther C. Feigl. This expansion strengthens the range of specialized medical services in Southern Burgenland, offering patients access to state-of-the-art treatment options close to home.

The official presentation of this important development in Burgenland’s healthcare system took place in September, with Governor Hans Peter Doskozil and the management of Health Burgenland in attendance.

Since September 8, a dedicated outpatient clinic for neurosurgery has also been available, ensuring rapid and competent patient care.

Outpatient Clinic and Spine Center in Oberwart

A central part of the new department is the Spine Center Burgenland, led by Dr. Daniel Staribacher. Its focus lies on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders – ranging from herniated discs and spinal canal stenosis to more complex conditions.

Thanks to minimally invasive techniques, patients benefit from gentle procedures, shorter recovery times, and a faster return to everyday life. With this new center, Burgenland now has its first specialized facility of this kind.
