I was hospitalized at Bamberg Hospital due to a parietal meningeoma located beneath the skull. In July, I underwent the not-so-easy surgery performed by Professor Feigl.
I was very, very satisfied with the treatment I received from Professor Feigl — from the informative preoperative discussion to the accommodation at Bamberg Hospital. I am also content with the entire nursing staff, who were competent, friendly, and attentive. My additional thanks go to Professor Lang (anesthesiologist), who also took care of me during the surgery. Professor Feigl, once again, my sincere thanks for the excellent care and the surgery that proceeded without complications. I will definitely recommend you warmly.
Large paramedian, dura-based meningeoma (45 x 33 mm) on the left frontal lobe with perifocal edema (20 x 10 mm).
During an MRI scan, a meningeoma was detected, requiring surgical removal. Shocked by this diagnosis, my family searched for a suitable clinic with experience and the latest methods/techniques in brain tumor surgery.
Through a fortunate coincidence (unfortunately, quite challenging to find on the internet), we learned that since 2015, there is a new Brain Center at Bamberg Hospital (Sozialstiftung Bamberg) under the direction of Professor Dr. Dr. Feigl.
We received a consultation appointment with Prof. Feigl for January, where the MRI CD was sent in advance. In a well-prepared meeting, the diagnosis and the inevitable surgery were explained in detail and objectively to my family and me, allowing us as laypeople without a medical background to understand everything. Our questions were answered thoroughly, and we decided on Bamberg and Prof. Dr. Dr. Feigl.
In January, I was admitted to the Neurosurgery department (private ward/twin room with additional payment). The food and accommodation were excellent. All necessary pre-op examinations and discussions were professionally conducted, well-organized in terms of scheduling, and always very friendly.
At the end of January, Prof. Feigl performed the surgery. The meningeoma was completely removed, and the operation went smoothly. I spent one night in the Intensive Care Unit for monitoring and was then transferred back to the private neurosurgical ward. Daily rounds were conducted both in the morning and evening by Prof. Feigl and Dr. Speil.
During my 10-day stay at the hospital, an interdisciplinary neuro-oncological tumor conference took place, discussing further follow-up examinations.
In February, I was discharged from Sozialstiftung Bamberg. A few days later, I attended a 5-week follow-up rehabilitation program (AHB), which was excellently organized by Bamberg Hospital (social services) both locally and in terms of scheduling.
At the end of May, I had my first MRI follow-up appointment at Bamberg Hospital. The referral for the MRI is obtained on-site at the Neuronetz, with minimal waiting time for the MRI, followed by a discussion in the Brain Tumor Clinic. Prof. Dr. Dr. Feigl and his team welcomed me and explained the positive recovery since the surgery.
Now, six months have passed since the operation, and I am able to continue my life without restrictions. My family and I are incredibly grateful! Therefore, my heartfelt thanks go to Prof. Dr. Dr. Feigl; he and the entire surgical team have done an outstanding job. Thanks also to Dr. Speil and the entire medical and nursing team of Neurosurgery, as well as the interdisciplinary ICU. Rarely have we felt so cared for and well looked after. The professional as well as human competence of Prof. Dr. Dr. Feigl is impressive.
Dear Neurosurgery Team,
Firstly, let me express my heartfelt thanks for making me feel comfortable and well-cared-for throughout the entire duration of my treatment with you. I would like to convey my gratitude to your entire team.
Warm and thankful regards, Bogdan R.
